The RQ-1 entered the USAF inventory in 1994 and was deployed for the first time over Bosnia in 1995. In 2002, the Predator was armed with AGM-114 Hellfire missiles, re-designated the MQ-1, and given interdiction and armed reconnaissance roles. AF DCGS says goodbye to an old friend
The MQ-1 officially retired from Air Force inventory on March 9, 2018 with the Air Force shifting to solely using the MQ-9 Reaper.

Airman 1st Class Jeremy Buzan, 707th Communications Squadron Cyber Systems Operations Technician, protected network servers from water-damage from a leak in Building 9801B on Jan. 2, 2018 at Fort Meade, Md. Several 707th CS Airmen pulled a 24-hour shift to rebuild damaged equipment and prevent further water damage.  The joint team effort from the 707th CS and 70th ISRW Civil Engineer fully restored non-secure network services in less than 27 hours and fully restored secure network services in less than 10 hours. When Airmen from the 707th Communications Squadron returned from their holiday break in the beginning of January, their first day back did not go as expected. It all began on Jan. 2, when a couple 707th CS Airmen were about to perform cyber infrastructure maintenance. Tech. Sgt. Jennifer Unthank, a Cyber Transport Supervisor with the 32d Intelligence Squadron augmenting for the 707th CS, was one of the first Airmen on the scene.
