Readiness was on the minds of 25th Air Force Airmen in 2017. While some practiced intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities at Red Flag and other exercises, others migrated systems and took leadership roles across the Numbered Air Force.

The winners of the 2017 Air Force Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Awards were recently announced and the Air Force Technical Applications Center had an exceptional presence among the winners. Of the fourteen packages Air Combat Command submitted for this year’s awards, seven winners were selected, and five of those were from AFTAC.

The Sijan award, first presented in 1981, was named in honor of the first Air Force Academy graduate to receive the Congressional Medal of Honor. Each year it is given to a senior and junior officer, and a senior and junior enlisted member who demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities though out the year.
