70th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Wing

The 70th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Wing (70 ISRW), with headquarters at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland, integrates Air Force capabilities into global cryptologic operations, directly supporting national-level decision makers, combatant commanders and tactical warfighters. The wing works closely with the National Security Agency/Central Security Service, leveraging the net-centric capabilities of a worldwide cryptologic enterprise to conduct national missions and enable national-tactical integration for joint and Air Force combat operations around the world. The effect on the battlespace is immediate, high-impact and decisive. The wing includes six operational intelligence groups located in the U.S., Pacific and European theaters. First activated as the 70th Observation Group on September 13, 1941, the wing underwent several organizational changes until redesignated as the 70 ISRW on January 1, 2009.

It seems that our beloved 70th ISR Wing mascot Eggbert is going on a world tour! We have some information on his whereabouts, but can you help us locate him? Clue: This group is located near the Alamo. The group is comprised of three squadrons with unique missions which include; global ISR, data acquisition, communication support, and engineering and repair in support of National Partners, Combat Commanders, and Air Components. Do you know where Eggbert is?

Recently the 29th Intelligence Squadron celebrated their heritage day, and this year they asked Air Force Cross recipient, Master Sgt. Robert Gutierrez Jr. to be their guest speaker. During his visit he was able to talk with the Black Knights about how ISR Airmen help save lives downrange.
Today we honor all those who gave their lives in defense of our nation. We will always remember your sacrifice. ‪"We don't know them all, but we owe them all." - Unknown‬

The Stick with Survivors Project started here at the Air Force Fort Meade SAPR office. It is a community-driven mobile art display that aims to inspire action to end sexual violence in our military and society. It is a catalyst for reflection and discussion about this epidemic. If you would like to participate and show your support, the Project will be at the Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month events on Fort Meade occurring through April.
